Studies in Language and Society was created to take over from the Master’s Program of the Graduate School of Foreign Languages, Osaka University of Foreign Studies (OUFS), and the Doctoral Program (Graduate School of Language and Society) established in April 1997. In October 2007, in line with the consolidation of OUFS and Osaka University, OUFS’s Graduate School of Language and Society was restructured to start anew as Studies in Language and Society.
